View In My Bible
1 This is what the LORD says: "For three sins of Moab,1 even for four, I will not turn back [my wrath]. Because he burned to lime2 the bones of Edom's king, 2 I will send fire on Moab that will consume the fortresses of Kerioth.a3 Moab will go down in great tumult amid war cries4 and the blast of the trumpet.5 3 I will destroy her ruler6 and kill all her officials with him,"7 says the LORD.8 4 This is what the LORD says: "For three sins of Judah,9 even for four, I will not turn back [my wrath]. Because they have rejected the law10 of the LORD and have not kept his decrees,11 because they have been led astray12 by false gods,b13 the godsc their ancestors followed,14 5 I will send fire15 on Judah that will consume the fortresses16 of Jerusalem.17"

Judgment on Israel

6 This is what the LORD says: "For three sins of Israel, even for four, I will not turn back [my wrath].18 They sell the innocent for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals.19 7 They trample on the heads of the poor as on the dust of the ground and deny justice to the oppressed. Father and son use the same girl and so profane my holy name.20 8 They lie down beside every altar on garments taken in pledge.21 In the house of their god they drink wine22 taken as fines.23 9 "Yet I destroyed the Amorites24 before them, though they were tall25 as the cedars and strong as the oaks.26 I destroyed their fruit above and their roots27 below. 10 I brought you up out of Egypt28 and led29 you forty years in the wilderness30 to give you the land of the Amorites.31 11 "I also raised up prophets32 from among your children and Nazirites33 from among your youths. Is this not true, people of Israel?" declares the LORD. 12 "But you made the Nazirites drink wine and commanded the prophets not to prophesy.34 13 "Now then, I will crush you as a cart crushes when loaded with grain.35 14 The swift will not escape,36 the strong37 will not muster their strength, and the warrior will not save his life.38 15 The archer39 will not stand his ground, the fleet-footed soldier will not get away, and the horseman40 will not save his life.41 16 Even the bravest warriors42 will flee naked on that day," declares the LORD.
