Deuteronomy 32:35 says “Vengeance is mine, and recompense, for the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and their doom comes swiftly." Wait a minute, that doesn’t seem fair. Why is vengeance the Lord’s? Why can’t I exact the revenge? Aside from the fact that God is better at it, I want to give you three reasons why vengeance should be the Lord’s.

We hear about a kinsman-redeemer in the story of Ruth and Boaz. But rather than just a cozy story of charity and love, the act of being a kinsman-redeemer reveals powerful, incredible truths about our Savior. Just as Boaz was for Ruth, Jesus is our ultimate Kinsman-Redeemer.

“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy’”(1 Peter 1:15-16).

Since God has not changed and his word has not changed, this means holiness still matters. It is of primary concern to God. I don’t think God can be any clearer, “be holy because I am holy.” Surprisingly, I don’t know if we often attach the importance of holiness to these two areas of our lives.

In spite of the voices out there, you must recognize that God does speak. This is not something that is reserved for the special few – this is something that is available to you and me. How can I say this so confidently? Because of the promise Jesus made to us.

"Amazing grace how sweet the sound; That saved a wretch like me; I once was lost but now I am found; Was blind but now I see." These are the words to the first verse of the classic hymn Amazing Grace. I am sure you have probably heard or sung this song hundreds if not thousands of times over the years. What I want you to think about is why God’s grace is so amazing. We often think about grace for salvation, but God’s grace goes far beyond that. For this reason, I want you to come with me as we explore what makes God’s grace so amazing.

When you break it down, the cross is really a barter system. The difference is the exchange is not even. We bring him our broken, sinful condition and he exchanges that for his perfect righteousness. There cannot be a bigger contrast than that.

Resurrection Sunday, or Easter Sunday, is a day of real celebration. I know some people don’t like using the term Easter and I get it, but regardless it is a day of celebration. We are acknowledging to the world that the stone has been rolled away and our Savior has risen from the dead.

Have you ever taken a step back and considered why this event is so important to your Christian journey? For a brief moment I want to give you four reasons why the resurrection matters so much. I think when you finish reading these you will rejoice even more.

I have long known that the key to God’s blessing in your life is obedience. But what I now know even more is that your obedience is far more important than just your own blessing. Your obedience doesn’t just impact your life, your obedience or disobedience is impacting someone else’s life.

Knowing that God is love is not only important, it is imperative. When you understand that God is love, it affects all the fundamental aspects of your Christian life. It affects how you approach God in prayer. It affects how you deal with sin and repentance. It affects your worship.

I think so often we feel the pressure to believe we have to put the mask on, because after all you are a person of faith and since God is good you must feel good all the time. What do you do when you don’t feel this way? How do you approach God and people when your faith is small, when you can’t believe and when you wonder if God is even listening?

Most people are familiar with the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. They were given a command not to eat from a tree, which they did not follow and as the saying goes, the rest is history.

One act of disobedience put mankind on this path that has led us to where we are today. This all started with some fruit, but what was that forbidden fruit in Genesis 2 where this account takes place? While there are no specifics on the type of fruit, there are some lessons we can learn from their experience.

One of the most significant things the Dead Sea Scrolls provide is a reliable record and confidence in the modern scriptures we have. I believe that for Christians, knowing about the Dead Sea Scrolls can also become a wonderful faith builder.

Too often we make the mistake of tying blessing to material things. Good job, nice house, full bank account, then you are blessed. While those things are nice, those are not the proof of God’s blessing. God's blessing has to go beyond just the material.

The bottom line is we need each other. For every person there will come a point where you are overwhelmed by the weight of life. In those moments you will be grateful that there is someone there to help you carry that weight.
