We live in a saturated society where excess is the norm. This can appear like a good thing; we have so much comfort and security that many did not have before us. But the best this world offers still does not compare to the glory of Christ which is to come.

If we have Jesus, we have life, today, right now, and in this very moment. No more waiting around for heaven. We look forward to our eternal hope, but we live in the present with fullness of His Spirit. He wants this for us. He desires for us to have joy found in Him. 

What’s on your mind? What is troubling you? How can knowing Christ enable you to take on the difficulties around you and rest in Him to be holding the world even during its chaos and strife? 

The need for a newborn to be nourished and loved is great. The baby cannot walk to the fridge for food, much less even lift his head. He is completely dependent upon his mother for survival. How often do we forget this in our walks with God? 

Faith pleases God. When we come to Him in prayer and in life, we have to believe that He is there and He is who He claims to be. Already in this verse we see the word reward. God rewards those who earnestly seek Him. This means that there is a current reward. What is it?

One of the most amazing facts about Jesus dying on a cross was that he died on a tree. This was significant because sin and death began at a tree, and sin was defeated on a tree.

Essentially, the book of life is used to share that those who are believers in Christ – sealed for eternity – are permanently written in the book. Their names can never be erased; they are God’s children forever. 

As we pray through the second candle of faith for the Advent season, may we be reminded that we serve the God who makes a way and prepares our hearts. Jesus is the Way; He is the One we are celebrating who came and fulfilled every prophecy of the Old Testament. He is the Savior of the world.

There is a beauty in knowing that in this very generation, no matter how much opposition comes up against the message of the gospel of Jesus, that His name and His Word will endure forever.

Jesus proves that He can make the most dirty to be perfectly clean. He is the true sacrifice for all people who believe in Him. This includes those whom we want to shut out or steer clear of with the gospel message. However, Jesus reveals that they need Him so much and we should welcome them and share His love with them.

There are also moments when we are serving the Lord faithfully and do not know how He is going to show up in the midst of the busyness and in our inadequacies. However, He is ever faithful to provide all that we need in Him to accomplish His kingdom work even when we feel weak.

Today, we are going to pray boldly for the Holy Spirit to renew us and reveal victory in our lives. We do not have this by anything that we can do but because of what Jesus has already done for us.

Stewardship is when we are entrusted with something from God and our job is to manage it well and glorify Him with what He has given under our influence. This can be finances, resources, money, time, spiritual giftings and talents.

The season of Thanksgiving is on the way. We are all getting out our family recipes, our stretchy pants, and marking our calendars. A whole holiday that is dedicated to gratitude is an opportunity for every household to look to God on how to best celebrate and bring honor to Him. As you sit around your family table this year, may these 10 verses spur on incredible moments of thankfulness and propel you into states of worship to the Savior.
