Beyond Sunday: Giving Good

Beyond Sunday: Giving Good

[Editor's note: Beyond Sunday is a Monday refresher to carry you through the week.]

Focus Verse of the Week

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, "Come back later; I'll give it tomorrow"-- when you now have it with you. - Proverbs 3:27-28

Classic Commentary

3:27 Do not withhold - Do not deny it, but readily and cheerfully impart it. Good - Anything which is good, either counsel, comfort, reproof, or the good things of the present life. Those who deserve it - That is, to all men, by that great and sovereign law of love.

3:28 Do not say - The former verse forbad the denial of good, and this forbids the delay of this duty.

A Thought to Keep

Sharing helpful words and kindness with others is a command; we don't need to deliberate whether someone has "earned" it.
