2 Samuel 13:30

And it came to pass while they were in the way
On their road homewards, before they got to Jerusalem:

that tidings came to David;
perhaps brought by one who was at the entertainment, who upon seeing Amnon smitten, immediately rose up and fled with the news of it to David:

saying, Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of
them left;
which he might suppose was the design of Absalom, and was done before that time; however, so it was ordered in Providence, that David, that rejoiced at the news of the death of Uriah, might be terrified with the tidings of the death of all his sons; and for a while it was as if it was really so, which occasioned the following behaviour in him.

28 Absalón ordenó a sus siervos, diciendo: Mirad, cuando el corazón de Amnón esté alegre por el vino, y cuando yo os diga: "Herid a Amnón", entonces matadle. No temáis; ¿no os lo he mandado yo? Tened ánimo y sed valientes.

29 Y los siervos de Absalón hicieron a Amnón tal como Absalón les había mandado. Entonces todos los hijos del rey se levantaron, y montándose cada uno en su mulo, huyeron.

30 Estando aún ellos en el camino, llegó a David el rumor que decía: Absalón ha dado muerte a todos los hijos del rey, y no ha quedado ni uno de ellos.

31 Entonces el rey se levantó, rasgó sus vestidos y se echó en tierra; y todos sus siervos estaban a su lado con los vestidos rasgados.

32 Y Jonadab, hijo de Simea, hermano de David, dijo: No crea mi señor que han dado muerte a todos los jóvenes, hijos del rey, pues sólo ha muerto Amnón; porque esto había sido determinado por decisión de Absalón desde el día en que Amnón violó a su hermana Tamar.
