Jeremiah 25:16

And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad
The judgments foretold shall come upon them, whether they will or not; which will have such effects upon them, as intoxicating liquor has on drunken persons; make them shake and tremble, and reel to and fro, and toss and tumble about, and behave like madmen: because of the sword that I will send among them;
this explains what is meant by the wine cup of fury, the sword of a foreign enemy that shall enter among them and destroy; and which would make them tremble, and be at their wits' end, like drunken and mad men.

14 "(Pues también a ellos los harán esclavos muchas naciones y grandes reyes, y les pagaré conforme a sus hechos y conforme a la obra de sus manos)."

15 Porque así me ha dicho el SEÑOR, Dios de Israel: Toma de mi mano esta copa del vino del furor, y haz que beban de ella todas las naciones a las cuales yo te envío.

16 Y beberán y se tambalearán y enloquecerán a causa de la espada que enviaré entre ellas.

17 Entonces tomé la copa de la mano del SEÑOR, e hice beber de ella a todas las naciones a las cuales me envió el SEÑOR:

18 a Jerusalén y a las ciudades de Judá, a sus reyes y a sus príncipes, para ponerlos por desolación, horror, burla y maldición, como hasta hoy;
