Under the leadership of James Bryan Smith, The Apprentice Institute (est. 2009), located at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, provides educational experiences in the area of Christian spirituality, develops resources for individual and church renewal, and engages in research to advance the field of Christian formation.
VISION
The vision of the Apprentice Institute is the renewal of the world and the church through the formation of new people and new communities who have begun living a radical Christian life in conformity to the teachings of Jesus, as his apprentices, in the midst of the world, whether in secular or ministry positions.
PROGRAMS AND EVENTS
The following programs aid in keeping with the Apprentice Institute vision and mission:
An undergraduate (B.A.) degree in Christian spiritual formation equipping young people to live out their faith as a follower of Jesus no matter their field of study
A Master of Arts in Christian spiritual formation and leadership designed as a personal growth, academic and professional program (online and residency degree)
A certificate program, titled Apprentice Experience, is a journey in discipleship intended for anyone wanting to further their study of Christian spiritual formation
Annual national conference on Christian spiritual formation engaging leaders in the field of Christian spiritual formation
