27:2 The text gives a true record of Job’s feelings but these do not represent the scriptural position as to God’s righteous and just character (Dt 32:4; Is 30:18; Zph 3:5). God loves righteousness and justice (Ps 33:5), and reigns in justice (Ps 97:2). He also expects his people to act justly (Mic 6:8) so that he might pour out his blessings on them (Dt 16:20). Isaiah predicted that David’s heir would one day rule Israel with justice (Is 1:27; 11:1-5).
