Isaiah 58:10 (King James Version)
And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday:
- thou draw
- 7 ; Deuteronomy 15:7-10 ; Psalms 41:1 ; 112:5-9 Proverbs 11:24 Proverbs 11:25 ; 14:31 28:27 Luke 18:22
- thy soul
- Instead of {naphshecha,} "thy soul," eleven MSS. read {lachmecha,} "thy bread," which is adopted by Bp. Lowth; but
- "to draw out the soul" in relieving the poor, probably means
- to do it not of constraint, but cheerfully.* then. 8 29:18 Job 11:17 Ps 37:6
