24 大 衛 正 坐 在 城 甕 裡 。 守 望 的 人 上 城 門 樓 的 頂 上 ， 舉 目 觀 看 ， 見 有 一 個 人 獨 自 跑 來 。

2 Samuel 18:24

And David sat between the two gates
Of the city of Mahanaim; which being a fortified place had two walls, one within another, and in each wall a gate; and between these David sat, waiting for news of the battle:

and the watchman went up to the roof over the gate unto the wall;
the gate to the outward wall, over which was a tower, and on that a flat roof; to which the watchman went to observe if he could see an express coming; no doubt by David's orders:

and lifted up his eyes and looked;
that is, very diligently and wistfully:

and, behold, a man running alone:
which made him the more observable, and was the more likely to be a messenger.

22 撒 督 的 兒 子 亞 希 瑪 斯 又 對 約 押 說 ： 無 論 怎 樣 ， 求 你 容 我 隨 著 古 示 人 跑 去 。 約 押 說 ： 我 兒 ， 你 報 這 信 息 ， 既 不 得 賞 賜 ， 何 必 要 跑 去 呢 ？

23 他 又 說 ： 無 論 怎 樣 ， 我 要 跑 去 。 約 押 說 ： 你 跑 去 罷 ！ 亞 希 瑪 斯 就 從 平 原 往 前 跑 ， 跑 過 古 示 人 去 了 。

24 大 衛 正 坐 在 城 甕 裡 。 守 望 的 人 上 城 門 樓 的 頂 上 ， 舉 目 觀 看 ， 見 有 一 個 人 獨 自 跑 來 。

25 守 望 的 人 就 大 聲 告 訴 王 。 王 說 ： 他 若 獨 自 來 ， 必 是 報 口 信 的 。 那 人 跑 得 漸 漸 近 了 。

26 守 望 的 人 又 見 一 人 跑 來 ， 就 對 守 城 門 的 人 說 ： 又 有 一 人 獨 自 跑 來 。 王 說 ： 這 也 必 是 報 信 的 。
