Ephesians 2:9

Not of works
Of any kind, moral or ceremonial, before or after conversion, done without faith or in it, nor of these in any sense; works are neither the moving causes, nor the procuring causes, nor the helping causes, nor "causa sine qua non", or conditions of salvation; the best works that are done by men, are not done of themselves, but by the grace of God, and therefore can never merit at his hand: and salvation is put upon such a foot,

lest any man should boast;
of his works before God, and unto men; wherefore he has denied works any place in justification and salvation, in order to exclude all boasting in man; and has fixed it in a way of grace, and has chosen and called poor sinful worthless creatures to enjoy it, that whoever glories, may glory in the Lord.

7 要 將 他 極 豐 富 的 恩 典 ， 就 是 他 在 基 督 耶 穌 裡 向 我 們 所 施 的 恩 慈 ， 顯 明 給 後 來 的 世 代 看 。

8 你 們 得 救 是 本 乎 恩 ， 也 因 著 信 ； 這 並 不 是 出 於 自 己 ， 乃 是 神 所 賜 的 ；

9 也 不 是 出 於 行 為 ， 免 得 有 人 自 誇 。

10 我 們 原 是 他 的 工 作 ， 在 基 督 耶 穌 裡 造 成 的 ， 為 要 叫 我 們 行 善 ， 就 是 神 所 預 備 叫 我 們 行 的 。

11 所 以 你 們 應 當 記 念 ： 你 們 從 前 按 肉 體 是 外 邦 人 ， 是 稱 為 沒 受 割 禮 的 ； 這 名 原 是 那 些 憑 人 手 在 肉 身 上 稱 為 受 割 禮 之 人 所 起 的 。
