1 Lì mǎ lì de érzi bǐ jiā shí qī nián , Yóudà wáng Yuētǎn de érzi Yàhāsī dēng jī .

2 Tā dēng jī de shíhou nián èr shí suì , zaì Yēlùsǎlĕng zuò wáng shí liù nián . bù xiàng tā zǔ Dàwèi xíng Yēhéhuá tā shén yǎn zhōng kàn wéi zhēng de shì ,

3 Què xiàofǎ Yǐsèliè zhū wáng suǒ xíng de , yòu zhào zhe Yēhéhuá cóng Yǐsèliè rén miànqián gǎn chū de waìbāngrén suǒ xíng kĕ zēng de shì , shǐ tāde érzi jīng huǒ ,

4 Bìng zaì qiū tán shàng , shāngāng shàng , gè qīng cuì shù xià xiànjì shāoxiāng .

5 Yàlán wáng Lìxùn hé Yǐsèliè wáng lì mǎ lì de érzi bǐ jiā shàn lái gōngdǎ Yēlùsǎlĕng , wéi kùn Yàhāsī , què bùnéng shēng tā .

6 Dāngshí Yàlán wáng Lìxùn shōu huí Yǐlā tā guīyǔ Yàlán , jiāng Yóudà rén cóng Yǐlā tā gǎn chū qù . Yàlán rén ( yǒu zuò Yǐdōng rén de ) jiù lái dào Yǐlā tā , zhù zaì nàli , zhídào jīnrì .

7 Yàhāsī chāiqiǎn shǐzhĕ qù jiàn Yàshù wáng tí gé là pí liè sè , shuō , wǒ shì nǐde púrén , nǐde érzi . xiànzaì Yàlán wáng hé Yǐsèliè wáng gōngjī wǒ , qiú nǐ lái jiù wǒ tuōlí tāmende shǒu .

8 Yàhāsī jiāng Yēhéhuá diàn lǐ hé wánggōng fǔ kù lǐ suǒyǒude jīn yín dōu sòng gĕiYàshù wáng wèi lǐwù .

9 Yàshù wáng yīngyún le tā , jiù shàng qù gōngdǎ Dàmǎsè , jiāng chéng gōng qǔ , shā le Lìxùn , bǎ jūmín lǔ dào jí Ěr .

10 Yàhāsī wáng shàng Dàmǎsè qù yíngjiē Yàshù wáng tí gé là pí liè sè , zaì Dàmǎsè kànjian yī zuò tán , jiù zhào tán de guī mú yàngshì zuòfǎ huà le tú yàng , sòng dào jìsī Wūlìyà nàli .

11 Jìsī Wūlìyà zhào zhe Yàhāsī wáng cóng Dàmǎsè sòng lái de tú yàng , zaì Yàhāsī wáng méiyǒu cóng Dàmǎsè huí lái zhī xiān , jiànzhù yī zuò tán .

12 Wáng cóng Dàmǎsè huí lái kànjian tán , jiù jìn qián lái , zaì tán shàng xiànjì .

13 Shāo Fánjì , sù jì , jiāo diàn jì , jiāng píngān jì shēng de xuè sǎ zaì tán shàng ,

14 Yòu jiāng Yēhéhuá miànqián de tóng tán cóng Yēhéhuá diàn hé xīn tán de zhōngjiān bān dào xīn tán de bĕibiān .

15 Yàhāsī wáng fēnfu jìsī Wūlìyà shuō , zǎochen de Fánjì , wǎnshang de sù jì , wáng de Fánjì , sù jì , guóneì zhòng mín de Fánjì , sù jì , diàn jì dōu yào shāo zaì dà tán shàng . Fánjì shēng hépíng ān jì shēng de xuè yĕ yào sǎ zaì zhè tán shàng , zhǐshì tóng tán wǒ yào yòng yǐ qiú wèn Yēhéhuá .

16 Jìsī Wūlìyà jiù zhào zhe Yàhāsī wáng suǒ fēnfu de xíng le .

17 Yàhāsī wáng dá diào pén zuò sìmiàn xiāng zhe de xīn zǐ , bǎ pén cóng zuò shàng nuó xià lái , yòu jiāng tóng hǎi cóng tuó hǎi de tóng niú shàng bān xià lái , fàng zaì pū shí dì .

18 Yòu yīn Yàshù wáng de yuángù , jiāng Yēhéhuá diàn wèi ānxīrì suǒ gaì de lángzi hé wáng cóng waì rù diàn de lángzi nuó yí , wéirǎo Yēhéhuá de diàn .

19 Yàhāsī qíyú suǒ xíng de shì dōu xiĕ zaì Yóudà liè wáng jì shàng .

20 Yàhāsī yǔ tā lièzǔ tóng shuì , zàng zaì Dàwèi chéng tā lièzǔ de fùndì lǐ . tā érzi Xīxījiā jiēxù tā zuò wáng .

Lièwángjìxià 16 Commentary

Chapter 16

Ahaz, king of Judah, His wicked reign. (1-9) Ahaz takes a pattern from an idol's altar. (10-16) Ahaz spoils the temple. (17-20)

Verses 1-9 Few and evil were the days of Ahaz. Those whose hearts condemn them, will go any where in a day of distress, rather than to God. The sin was its own punishment. It is common for those who bring themselves into straits by one sin, to try to help themselves out by another.

Verses 10-16 God's altar had hitherto been kept in its place, and in use; but Ahaz put another in the room of it. The natural regard of the mind of man to some sort of religion, is not easily extinguished; but except it be regulated by the word, and by the Spirit of God, it produces absurd superstitions, or detestable idolatries. Or, at best, it quiets the sinner's conscience with unmeaning ceremonies. Infidels have often been remarkable for believing ridiculous falsehoods.

Verses 17-20 Ahaz put contempt upon the sabbath, and thus opened a wide inlet to all manner of sin. This he did for the king of Assyria. When those who have had a ready passage to the house of the Lord, turn it another way to please their neighbours, they are going down-hill apace to ruin.

INTRODUCTION TO 2 KINGS 16

This chapter contains the reign of Ahaz only, relates his idolatry, 2Ki 16:1-4 his hiring the king of Assyria with the treasure of the temple, and his own, to assist him against the kings of Israel and Syria, who besieged him, 2Ki 16:5-9, his seeing the altar of an idol at Damascus, the fashion of which he took, and ordered one like it to be built at Jerusalem, 2Ki 16:10-16, his defacing and removing some things in the temple, 2Ki 16:17,18, and the chapter is concluded with his death and burial, 2Ki 16:19,20.
