Yǐsījiēshū 19

1 Nǐ dāng wéi Yǐsèliè de wáng zuò qǐ āi gē ,
2 Shuō , nǐde mǔqin shì shénme ne . shì gè mǔ shīzi , dūn fú zaì shīzi zhōngjiān , zaì shǎo zhuàng shīzi zhōng yǎng yù xiǎo shīzi .
3 Zaì tā xiǎo shīzi zhōng yǎng dà yī gè , chéng le shǎo zhuàng shīzi , xué huì zhuā sì ér chī rén .
4 Liè guó tīngjian le jiù bǎ tā zhuō zaì tāmende kēng zhōng , yòng gōuzǐ lā dào Āijí dì qù .
5 Mǔ shī jiàn zìjǐ dĕnghòu shī le zhǐwang , jiù cóng tā xiǎo shīzi zhōng yòu jiāng yī gè yǎng wéi shǎo zhuàng shīzi .
6 Tā zaì zhòng shīzi zhōng zǒu lái zǒu qù , chéng le shǎo zhuàng shīzi , xué huì zhuā sì ér chī rén .
7 Tā zhīdào liè guó de gōngdiàn , yòu shǐ tāmende chéngyì biàn wèi huāng cháng . yīn tā paó xiāo de shēngyīn , biàn dì hé qízhōng suǒyǒude jiù dōu huāng feì .
8 Yúshì sìwéi bāng guó gè xǐng de rén lái gōngjī tā , jiāng wǎng sǎ zaì tā shēnshang , zhuō zaì tāmende kēng zhōng .
9 Tāmen yòng gōuzǐ gōu zhù tā , jiāng tā fàng zaì lóng zhōng , daì dào Bābǐlún wáng nàli , jiāng tā fàng rù jiāngù zhī suǒ , shǐ tā de shēngyīn zaì Yǐsèliè shān shang bú zaì tīngjian .
10 Nǐde mǔqin xiānqián rú pútàoshù , jíqí mào shèng ( yuánwén zuò zaì nǐ xuè zhōng ) , zāi yú shuǐ páng . yīnwei shuǐ duō , jiù duō jié guǒzi , mǎn shēng zhīzǐ .
11 Shēng chū jiāngù de zhī gān , kĕ zuò zhǎngquán zhĕ de zhàng . zhè zhī gān gāo jǔ zaì mào mì de zhī zhōng , érqiĕ tā shēng zhǎng gāo dà , zhīzǐ fán duō , yuǎn yuǎn kĕ jiàn .
12 Dàn zhè pútàoshù yīn fèn nù beì bá chū shuāi zaì dì shang . dōng fēng chuī gān qí shang de guǒzi , jiāngù de zhī gān zhé duàn kū gàn , beì huǒshào huǐ le .
13 Rújīn zāi yú kuàngyĕ gàn hàn wú shuǐ zhī dì .
14 Huǒ yĕ cóng tā zhī gān zhōng fāchū , shāo miè guǒzi , yǐzhì méiyǒu jiāngù de zhī gān kĕ zuò zhǎngquán zhĕ de zhàng . zhè shì āi gē , yĕ bì yòng yǐ zuò āi gē .

Yǐsījiēshū 19 Commentary

Chapter 19

A parable lamenting the ruin of Jehoahaz and Jehoiakim. (1-9) Another describing the desolation of the people. (10-14)

Verses 1-9 Ezekiel is to compare the kingdom of Judah to a lioness. He must compare the kings of Judah to a lion's whelps; they were cruel and oppressive to their own subjects. The righteousness of God is to be acknowledged, when those who have terrified and enslaved others, are themselves terrified and enslaved. When professors of religion form connexions with ungodly persons, their children usually grow up following after the maxims and fashions of a wicked world. Advancement to authority discovers the ambition and selfishness of men's hearts; and those who spend their lives in mischief, generally end them by violence.

Verses 10-14 Jerusalem was a vine, flourishing and fruitful. This vine is now destroyed, though not plucked up by the roots. She has by wickedness made herself like tinder to the sparks of God's wrath, so that her own branches serve as fuel to burn her. Blessed be God, one Branch of the vine here alluded to, is not only become a strong rod for the sceptre of those that rule, but is Himself the true and living Vine. This shall be for a rejoicing to all the chosen people of God throughout all generations.

Chapter Summary

INTRODUCTION TO EZEKIEL 19

The subject matter of this chapter is a lamentation for the princes and people of the Jews, on account of what had already befallen them, and what was yet to come, Eze 19:1. The mother of the princes is compared to a lioness, and they to lions; who, one after another, were taken and carried captive, Eze 19:2-9; again, their mother is compared to a vine, and they to branches and rods for sceptres, destroyed by an east wind, and consumed by fire, Eze 19:10-14.
