2 Samuel 18:1

And David numbered the people that [were] with him
Which Josephus says ^F4 were four thousand; but one would think there should be more by what follows:

and set captains of thousands and captains of hundreds over them;
he divided his army into companies, which consisted some of a thousand and others of a hundred; over each of which he set captains, to lead them on, direct, and command them in battle.

1 大 卫 数 点 跟 随 他 的 人 ， 立 千 夫 长 、 百 夫 长 率 领 他 们 。

2 大 卫 打 发 军 兵 出 战 ， 分 为 三 队 ： 一 队 在 约 押 手 下 ， 一 队 在 洗 鲁 雅 的 儿 子 、 约 押 兄 弟 亚 比 筛 手 下 ， 一 队 在 迦 特 人 以 太 手 下 。 大 卫 对 军 兵 说 ： 我 必 与 你 们 一 同 出 战 。

3 军 兵 却 说 ： 你 不 可 出 战 。 若 是 我 们 逃 跑 ， 敌 人 必 不 介 意 ； 我 们 阵 亡 一 半 ， 敌 人 也 不 介 意 。 因 为 你 一 人 强 似 我 们 万 人 ， 你 不 如 在 城 里 预 备 帮 助 我 们 。

4 王 向 他 们 说 ： 你 们 以 为 怎 样 好 ， 我 就 怎 样 行 。 於 是 王 站 在 城 门 旁 ， 军 兵 或 百 或 千 地 挨 次 出 去 了 。

5 王 嘱 咐 约 押 、 亚 比 筛 、 以 太 说 ： 你 们 要 为 我 的 缘 故 宽 待 那 少 年 人 押 沙 龙 。 王 为 押 沙 龙 嘱 咐 众 将 的 话 ， 兵 都 听 见 了 。
