Joshua 10:38

And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir
A city, according to Kimchi, which he passed by when he went to Hebron, and did not fight against it; but, when he had taken Hebron, returned and took it; and which Bunting ^F8 says was but a mile from it, and twenty two miles from Jerusalem, towards the south; it is the same with Kirjathsepher and Kirjathsannah, ( Joshua 15:15 Joshua 15:49 ) ; the city of a book or books; and the Rabbins say ^F9, that with the Persians Debir signifies the same, and had its name from a library which was here kept, or from the archives in which the most memorable things since the flood were recorded; or from the making of paper or parchment, or whatsoever was made use of for writing, and of which volumes of books were made:

and fought against it;
it refusing to submit to him upon his summons.

37 就 夺 了 希 伯 仑 和 属 希 伯 仑 的 诸 城 邑 ， 用 刀 将 城 中 的 人 与 王 ， 并 那 些 城 邑 中 的 人 口 ， 都 击 杀 了 ， 没 有 留 下 一 个 ， 是 照 他 向 伊 矶 伦 所 行 的 ， 把 城 中 的 一 切 人 口 尽 行 杀 灭 。

38 约 书 亚 和 以 色 列 众 人 回 到 底 璧 ， 攻 打 这 城 ，

39 就 夺 了 底 璧 和 属 底 璧 的 城 邑 ， 又 擒 获 底 璧 的 王 ， 用 刀 将 这 些 城 中 的 人 口 尽 行 杀 灭 ， 没 有 留 下 一 个 。 他 待 底 璧 和 底 璧 王 ， 像 从 前 待 希 伯 仑 和 立 拿 与 立 拿 王 一 样 。

40 这 样 ， 约 书 亚 击 杀 全 地 的 人 ， 就 是 山 地 、 南 地 、 高 原 、 山 坡 的 人 ， 和 那 些 地 的 诸 王 ， 没 有 留 下 一 个 。 将 凡 有 气 息 的 尽 行 杀 灭 ， 正 如 耶 和 华 ─ 以 色 列 的 　 神 所 吩 咐 的 。
