And Segub begat Jair, who had twenty three cities in the land
of Gilead.
] Which, according to Kimchi, he inherited in right of his wife, which, he says, he took out of the land of Gilead; but they seem to be rather what he took by force of arms from the former inhabitants; see ( Numbers 32:41 ) .

22 E Segub generò Iair, il quale ebbe ventitre terre nel paese di Galaad;

23 e prese a’ Ghesurei, ed a’ Siri, le villate di Iair, e Chenat, con le terre del suo territorio, che sono sessanta terre. Esse furono dei figliuoli di Machir, padre di Galaad.

24 E dopo che fu morto Hesron, in Caleb di Efrata, Abia, moglie di Hesron, gli partorì Ashur, padre di Tecoa.
