1 Samuel 16:22

And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, let David, I pray thee, stand
before me
Continue in his service; which was great condescension in him, and great respect shown to Jesse, not to detain his son without his leave, and to ask it as a favour of him:

for he hath found favour in my sight:
was very acceptable to him which must be very pleasing to Jesse to hear; especially if he was in any fear that Saul had an ill design upon him, when he first sent for him.

20 Ed Isai prese un asino carico di pane, e di un barile di vino, e d’un capretto; e lo mandò a Saulle, per Davide suo figliuolo.
21 E Davide venne a Saulle, e stette davanti a lui. E Saulle l’amò forte, e Davide fu suo scudiere.
22 E Saulle mandò a dire ad Isai: Deh! lascia che Davide stia davanti a me; perciocchè egli mi è in grazia.
23 Ora, quando lo spirito malvagio, mandato da Dio, era sopra Saulle, Davide pigliava la cetera, e ne sonava con la mano; e Saulle n’era sollevato, e ne stava meglio, e lo spirito malvagio si partiva da lui.
