4 (H24-5) E la gente di Davide gli disse: Ecco il giorno che il Signore ti ha detto: Ecco io ti do il tuo nemico nelle mani, e tu gli farai come ti piacerà. Allora Davide si levò, e pianamente tagliò il lembo dell’ammanto di Saulle.

1 Samuel 24:4

And the men of David said unto him
Some of his principal men, who were about him, and near him, such as Joab and Abishai:

behold the day of which the Lord said unto thee:
now the time was come that he spoke of to him by Samuel, or Gad, or to himself directly:

behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand;
and such was Saul, as appeared by his seeking to take away his life; and now he was in the hand of David to take away his life, if he pleased:

that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee;
an opportunity of this kind now offered:

then David arose;
from that part of the cave in which he was, the further part of it:

and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily;
unawares to him, and unobserved by him, which might be easily done, if Saul was asleep, and it is probable he was; and by the same way it may be accounted for that he did not hear the discourse that passed between David and his men.

2 (H24-3) Allora Saulle prese tremila uomini scelti d’infra tutto Israele, e andò per cercar Davide e la sua gente, su per le rupi delle camozze.
3 (H24-4) E, giunto alle mandre delle pecore, in su la via ov’è una spelonca, Saulle entrò per fare i suoi bisogni naturali; e Davide e la sua gente erano assettati nel fondo della spelonca.
4 (H24-5) E la gente di Davide gli disse: Ecco il giorno che il Signore ti ha detto: Ecco io ti do il tuo nemico nelle mani, e tu gli farai come ti piacerà. Allora Davide si levò, e pianamente tagliò il lembo dell’ammanto di Saulle.
5 (H24-6) E, dopo questo, il cuore battè a Davide, perchè egli avea tagliato il lembo dell’ammanto di Saulle.
6 (H24-7) E disse alla sua gente: Tolga il Signore da me che io faccia questo al mio signore, all’Unto del Signore, che io gli metta la mano addosso; conciossiachè egli sia l’Unto del Signore.
