And he joined himself with him to make ships to go to
Tarshish Of which, (See Gill on 1 Kings 22:48), and though it is there said, ( 1 Kings 22:49 ) , that Jehoshaphat refused letting the servants of Ahaziah go with his, that was after he had been reproved for joining with him, and after the ships were broken:

and they made the ships in Eziongeber;
of which (See Gill on 1 Kings 9:26).

34 Ora, quant’è al rimanente de’ fatti di Giosafat, primi ed ultimi, ecco, sono scritti nel libro di Iehu, figliuolo di Hanani, il quale è stato inserito nel libro dei re d’Israele.
35 Ora, dopo quelle cose, Giosafat, re di Giuda, fece compagnia con Achazia, re d’Israele, le cui opere erano empie.
36 E lo prese in sua compagnia, per far navi, per far viaggi in Tarsis; e fecero le navi in Esion-gheber.
37 Allora Eliezer, figliuolo di Dodava, da Maresa, profetizzò contro a Giosafat, dicendo: Conciossiachè tu abbi fatta compagnia con Achazia, il Signore ha dissipate le tue opere. E le navi furono rotte, e non poterono fare il viaggio in Tarsis.
