Acts 5:2

And kept back part of the price
At which the possession was sold; he reserved it for his own use, after he had given out that he sold it for the service of the church:

his wife also being privy to it;
to this private reserve:

and brought a certain part;
whether the greater part, or an equal part, half of it, or a lesser part; some little part of it, so the phrase seems to signify, is not certain:

and laid it at the apostles' feet;
as the rest did, thereby to make a show of charity, and cover the deceit.

1 Ma un certo uomo, chiamato per nome Anania, con Saffira, sua moglie, vendè una possessione;
2 e frodò del prezzo, con saputa della sua moglie; e, portatane una parte, la pose a’ piedi degli apostoli.
3 Ma Pietro disse: Anania, perchè ha Satana riempito il cuor tuo, per mentire allo Spirito Santo, e frodar del prezzo della possessione?
4 S’ella restava, non restava ella a te? ed essendo venduta, non era ella in tuo potere? perchè ti sei messo in cuore questa cosa? tu non hai mentito agli uomini, ma a Dio.
5 Ed Anania, udendo queste parole, cadde, e spirò. E gran paura venne a tutti coloro che udirono queste cose.
