26 Perciò que’ giorni furono chiamati Purim, dal nome di Pur; perciò ancora, secondo tutte le parole di quelle lettere, e secondo quello che aveano veduto intorno a ciò, e quello ch’era pervenuto fino a loro,

Esther 9:26

Wherefore they called these days Purim, after the name of Pur,
&c.] The lot; because of the lots cast by Haman; see ( Esther 3:7 ) ,

therefore for all the words of this letter;
in obedience to what Mordecai wrote in his letter to the Jews, and because of the things contained in it:

and of that which they had seen concerning this matter;
with their own eyes, in the several provinces where their enemies rose up to assault them, but were destroyed by them:

and what had come unto them:
by report; as the fall of Haman, and advancement of Mordecai, and the favours shown to Esther and her people; all this belongs to the following verse, containing the reasons of the Jews' appointment and engagement to observe the days of Purim.

Ester 9:26 In-Context

24 Perciocchè Haman, figliuolo di Hammedata, Agageo, nemico di tutti i Giudei, avea fatta una macchinazione contro a’ Giudei, per distruggerli; e avea tirata Pur, cioè la sorte, per isconfiggerli, e per distruggerli.

25 Ma dopo ch’Ester fu venuta in presenza del re, egli ordinò con lettere, che la scellerata macchinazione che Haman avea fatta contro a’ Giudei, fosse rivolta in sul capo di lui stesso; e ch’egli co’ suoi figliuoli, fosse appiccato al legno.

26 Perciò que’ giorni furono chiamati Purim, dal nome di Pur; perciò ancora, secondo tutte le parole di quelle lettere, e secondo quello che aveano veduto intorno a ciò, e quello ch’era pervenuto fino a loro,

27 i Giudei costituirono, e presero sopra sè, e sopra la lor progenie, e sopra tutti quelli che si aggiungerebbero con loro, per istatuto immutabile, di celebrar que’ due giorni, secondo che n’era stato scritto; e ciò, al tempo loro, ogni anno; e che la memoria di que’ giorni sarebbe celebrata,

28 e che sarebbero solennizzati in ogni età, in ogni famiglia, provincia, e città; e che que’ giorni di Purim non trapasserebbero mai, senza esser celebrati fra i Giudei, e che la lor memoria non verrebbe mai meno appo la loro posterità.
