3 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signore intorno a’ figliuoli, ed alle figliuole, che nasceranno in questo luogo, ed alle madri che li avranno partoriti, ed a’ padri che li avranno generati in questo paese:

Jeremiah 16:3

For thus saith the Lord concerning the sons and concerning the
daughters that are born in this place
. This is a reason given why the prophet should not have, and why he should not be desirous to have, sons and daughters in such a place and country, devoted to destruction: and concerning their mothers that bare them, and concerning their
fathers that begat them in this land:
the land of Judea; which shows what is meant by the place before mentioned; both the one and the other, parents and children, should die there; this is what was determined by the Lord concerning them; and therefore it could not be a desirable thing for a man to have wife and children, whom he must part with in such an uncomfortable manner, as is after described; and to show the certainty of which the prophet is forbid to do as above.

2 Non prenderti moglie, e non aver figliuoli, nè figliuole, in questo luogo.

3 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signore intorno a’ figliuoli, ed alle figliuole, che nasceranno in questo luogo, ed alle madri che li avranno partoriti, ed a’ padri che li avranno generati in questo paese:

4 Morranno di morti dolorose; non se ne farà cordoglio, e non saranno seppelliti; saranno per letame in su la faccia della terra, e saranno consumati per la spada, e per la fame; ed i lor corpi morti saranno per pasto agli uccelli del cielo, ed alle bestie della terra.

5 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signore: Non entrare in alcuna casa di convito funerale, e non andar per far cordoglio, e non condolerti con loro; perciocchè io ho ritratta la mia pace da questo popolo, dice il Signore, e la mia benignità, e le mie compassioni.
