25 che i re ed i principi che seggono sopra il trono di Davide, montati sopra carri e cavalli; i re, dico, e i lor principi, gli uomini di Giuda, e gli abitanti di Gerusalemme, entreranno per le porte di questa città; e questa città sarà abitata in perpetuo.

Jeremiah 17:25

Then shall there enter into the gates of this city
In a very public and splendid manner: kings and princes, sitting upon the throne of David;
that is, kings, with the princes of the blood, or with their nobles, who shall be of the house and line of David; and in a continual succession shall sit upon his throne, and possess the kingdom of the house of Judah, and rule over them in great glory, peace, and prosperity: riding in chariots and on horses, they and their princes, the men of
Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
some riding in chariots, and some on horses; the king, with some of the princes of the blood, in one chariot; his nobles in others, or on horseback; with great numbers of the citizens of Jerusalem, and people from all parts, flocking to see them, and join in the procession, and so make it more grand and august: and this city shall remain for ever;
or, "be inhabited for ever" ^F8; a long time, and not be destroyed, as has been threatened, or its inhabitants carried captive.

23 Ma essi non ascoltarono, e non porsero il loro orecchio; anzi indurarono il lor collo per non ascoltare, e per non ricever correzione.

24 Ed avverrà, se pur mi ascoltate, dice il Signore, per non fare entrare alcun carico per le porte di questa città nel giorno del sabato, e per santificare il giorno del sabato, per non fare in esso alcun lavoro;

25 che i re ed i principi che seggono sopra il trono di Davide, montati sopra carri e cavalli; i re, dico, e i lor principi, gli uomini di Giuda, e gli abitanti di Gerusalemme, entreranno per le porte di questa città; e questa città sarà abitata in perpetuo.

26 E si verrà dalle città di Giuda, e da’ luoghi circonvicini di Gerusalemme, e dal paese di Beniamino, e dal piano, e dal monte, e dalla parte meridionale, portando olocausti e sacrificii, ed offerte, ed incenso; portando ancora offerte da render grazie, alla Casa del Signore.

27 Ma, se non mi ascoltate, per santificare il giorno del sabato, e per non portare alcun carico, e per non entrar con esso per le porte di Gerusalemme, nel giorno del sabato, io accenderò un fuoco nelle sue porte, il quale consumerà i palazzi di Gerusalemme, e non si spegnerà.
