Jeremiah 38:21

But if thou refuse to go forth
Out of Jerusalem, to the Chaldean army, and submit to them: this [is] the word that the Lord hath showed me,
or the thing which should certainly come to pass; the word of prophecy the Lord had showed to the prophet, and which he now declares to the king; who asked of him a word, was desirous to know whether there was a word from the Lord, and what it was; and this it is which follows, in case he continued impenitent, obstinate, and disobedient.

19 E il re Sedechia disse a Geremia: Io sono in gran perplessità per que’ Giudei, che si son rivolti a parte de’ Caldei, che io non sia dato in man loro, e che non mi scherniscano.

20 E Geremia disse: Tu non vi sarai dato. Deh! ascolta la voce del Signore, in ciò che io ti dico; ed egli ti sarà bene, e l’anima tua viverà.

21 Ma, se tu ricusi d’uscire, quest’è quello, che il Signore mi ha fatto vedere:

22 Ecco, tutte le donne ch’eran rimaste nella casa del re di Giuda, erano tratte fuori a’ capitani del re di Babilonia; ed esse dicevano: I tuoi confidenti ti han persuaso e vinto; i tuoi piedi sono stati fitti nel fango, ed essi si son tratti addietro.

23 Così saranno menate tutte le tue mogli, e i tuoi figliuoli, a’ Caldei; e tu stesso non iscamperai dalle lor mani; anzi sarai preso, e dato in mano del re di Babilonia; e farai, che questa casa sarà arsa col fuoco.
