Geremia 42:16

16 egli avverrà, che la spada della quale temete, vi aggiugnerà là nel paese di Egitto; e parimente la fame, della quale voi avete paura, vi starà attaccata dietro là in Egitto; e quivi morrete.

Jeremiah 42:16

Then it shall come to pass
That the various judgments following should come upon them: [that] the sword, which ye feared, shall overtake you there in the land
of Egypt;
that is, the sword; of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, which they feared they should fall by in Judea; this should come after them in Egypt, and there overtake them, as it did; Egypt being destroyed by the king of Babylon, as it was foretold it should, ( Jeremiah 46:25 Jeremiah 46:26 ) ; and the famine, whereof you were afraid, shalt follow close after you
there in Egypt;
the famine they were afraid would come upon them in Judea, should pursue them, overtake them, seize on them, and cleave unto them, in Egypt; thus the evils they thought to escape, by moving from one place, should befall them in another; there is no fleeing from the presence, power, and hand of God: and there ye shall die;
either by the sword, or by famine, or by pestilence, as in the ( Jeremiah 42:17 ) .

14 No; anzi entreremo nel paese di Egitto, acciocchè non veggiamo la guerra, e non udiamo il suon della tromba, e non sofferiamo fame, per mancamento di pane, e quivi abiteremo;

15 ascoltate ora sopra ciò la parola del Signore, o rimanente di Giuda. Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, l’Iddio d’Israele: Se pur voi rivolgete la faccia per entrare in Egitto, e vi entrate per dimorarvi;

16 egli avverrà, che la spada della quale temete, vi aggiugnerà là nel paese di Egitto; e parimente la fame, della quale voi avete paura, vi starà attaccata dietro là in Egitto; e quivi morrete.

17 E tutti gli uomini, che avran volta la faccia per entrare in Egitto, per dimorarvi, vi morranno di spada, di fame, e di pestilenza; niuno di loro scamperà, o si salverà dal male che io fo venir sopra loro.

18 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, l’Iddio d’Israele: Siccome la mia ira, e il mio cruccio, si è versato sopra gli abitanti di Gerusalemme, così si verserà la mia ira sopra voi, quando sarete entrati in Egitto; e sarete in esecrazione, e in istupore, e in maledizione, e in vituperio; e giammai più non vedrete questo luogo.
