A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land.
] What may justly raise admiration in some, and horror in others, or both in all: it is so amazing that it can hardly be conceived of, and so shameful and filthy as not to be expressed; what it is follows:

28 Son divenuti grassi, e lisci; e pure ancora hanno passati di mali accidenti; non fanno ragione alcuna, non pure all’orfano, e pur prosperano; e non fanno diritto a’ poveri.

29 Non farei io punizione di queste cose? dice il Signore; non vendicherebbesi l’anima mia d’una cotal gente?

31 i profeti han profetizzato con menzogna; e i sacerdoti han signoreggiato, appoggiandosi sopra le mani di essi; e il mio popolo l’ha amato così. Ora, che farete voi alla fine?
