Luke 6:46

And why call ye me Lord, Lord
Or, "my Lord, my Lord", as the Syriac version renders it; acknowledging, in words, his government over them; claiming an interest in him, and making use of his name and authority:

and do not the things which I say;
or "command"; and therefore such words in their mouths would be of no use to them, since they neither did his Father's will, which he taught them, nor observed his commands and ordinances which he enjoined them; and therefore should not enter into the kingdom of heaven, nor be owned by him another day, but should be bid to depart from him; (See Gill on Matthew 7:21). 44 Perciocchè ogni albero è riconosciuto dal proprio frutto; poichè non si colgono fichi dalle spine, e non si vendemmiano uve dal pruno.

45 L’uomo buono, dal buon tesoro del suo cuore, reca fuori il bene; e l’uomo malvagio, dal malvagio tesoro del suo cuore, reca fuori il male; perciocchè la sua bocca parla di ciò che gli soprabbonda nel cuore.

46 Ora, perchè mi chiamate Signore, e non fate le cose che io dico?

47 Chiunque viene a me, e ode le mie parole, e le mette ad effetto, io vi mostrerò a cui egli è simile.

48 Egli è simile ad un uomo che edifica una casa, il quale ha cavato, e profondato, ed ha posto il fondamento sopra la pietra; ed essendo venuta una piena, il torrente ha urtata quella casa, e non l’ha potuta scrollare, perciocchè era fondata in su la pietra.
