Neemia 9:35

35 E non ti hanno servito nel lor regno, e ne’ gran beni, che tu avevi loro dati, nè in quell’ampio e grasso paese, che tu avevi messo in lor potere; e non si son convertiti dalle loro opere malvage.

Nehemiah 9:35

For they have not served thee in their kingdom
When in it, whether of Israel or of Judah, and when in the most flourishing circumstances:

and in thy great goodness that thou gavest them;
amidst all the prosperity and affluence of good things they enjoyed, which was an obligation upon them to serve the Lord;

and in the large and fat land which thou gavest before them;
the land of Canaan, a land flowing with milk, which lay open for them, their enemies being driven out before them, see ( Nehemiah 9:25 ) ,

neither turned they from their wicked works;
their idolatries more especially.

33 Ora tu sei giusto in tutto quello che ci è avvenuto; perciocchè tu hai operato fedelmente; ma noi siamo proceduti empiamente.

34 Nè i nostri re, nè i nostri principi, nè i nostri sacerdoti, nè i nostri padri, non hanno messa in opera la tua Legge, e non hanno atteso a’ tuoi comandamenti, nè alle tue testimonianze, con le quali tu hai loro protestato.

35 E non ti hanno servito nel lor regno, e ne’ gran beni, che tu avevi loro dati, nè in quell’ampio e grasso paese, che tu avevi messo in lor potere; e non si son convertiti dalle loro opere malvage.

36 Ecco, oggi noi siamo servi; ecco, siamo servi nel paese che tu desti a’ nostri padri, per mangiarne i frutti ed i beni.

37 Ed esso produce in abbondanza per li re che tu hai costituiti sopra noi, per li nostri peccati, e i quali signoreggiano sopra i nostri corpi, e sopra le nostre bestie, a lor volontà; onde noi siamo in gran distretta.
