Psalms 69:24

24 Pour out your anger on them; let your indignation overtake them.

Psalms 69:24 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 69:24

Pour out thine indignation upon them
Not a few drops of it only, but a flood of it, sweeping away and bearing down all before it; which was done when wrath came upon them to the uttermost, in the destruction of their city, temple, and nation, ( 1 Thessalonians 2:16 ) ;

let thy wrathful anger take hold of them;
follow after them, overtake them, seize upon them, and hold them fast, that they may not escape. It denotes the severity of God towards them; the fierceness and fury of his wrath upon them; and that their destruction would be inevitable, and an entire and utter one.

Psalms 69:24 In-Context

22 May their banquets cause their ruin; may their sacred feasts cause their downfall.
23 Strike them with blindness! Make their backs always weak!
24 Pour out your anger on them; let your indignation overtake them.
25 May their camps be left deserted; may no one be left alive in their tents.
26 They persecute those whom you have punished; they talk about the sufferings of those you have wounded.
