1 Samuel 14:22

Likewise all the men of Israel which had hid themselves in
Mount Ephraim
In the caves and rocks, thickets and pits there, see ( 1 Samuel 13:6 ) when

they heard that the Philistines fled;
now being delivered from their fears, and thinking themselves safe, ventured out of their lurking places:

even they also followed hard after them in the battle;
they joined the pursuers who came their way, and stuck to them, and closely pursued the flying army of the Philistines. According to Josephus ^F16, the army of Saul was now increased to 10,000.

20 Y juntando Saúl todo el pueblo que con él estaba, vinieron hasta el lugar de la batalla; y he aquí que la espada de cada uno era vuelta contra su compañero, y la mortandad era grande

21 Y los hebreos que habían estado con los filisteos de ayer y anteayer, y habían venido con ellos de los alrededores al campamento, también éstos se volvieron del lado de los israelitas que estaban con Saúl y con Jonatán

23 Así salvó el SEÑOR a Israel aquel día. Y llegó el alcance hasta Bet-avén

24 Pero los varones de Israel fueron puestos en apuro aquel día; porque Saúl había conjurado al pueblo, diciendo: Cualquiera que comiere pan hasta la tarde, hasta que haya tomado venganza de mis enemigos, sea maldito. Y todo el pueblo no había gustado pan
