If you need a good example of the foolishness of going against God, and seeking the glory that belongs only to Him, just look at the life of Herod. He had a tragic ending, as he was eaten by worms and died. Today on Sound Doctrine pastor Jeff Johnson recalls this story from Acts twelve, and shows us three worms that can easily devour us today if we’re not careful.

Compassion brings glory to God when it moves us to the point of action. And, through suffering, whether God heals us or takes our lives, it brings God glory. And, to God be the glory as we eagerly await His return.

Today and tomorrow pastor Jeff Johnson will finish up Acts chapter twelve. You may recall that Herod not only killed James, arrested Peter, but also slaughtered his six guards. He was ruthless! But his fatal mistake, as we’ll see today, was when he failed to give glory to God!

Love and acceptance are done by accepting others in the faith. It doesn’t mean we have to agree in all things, because the opposite of love and acceptance is judgement. Romans 15:7 tells us to receive one another, just as Christ received us, to the glory of God.
