And he reasonedin the synagogue*everysabbath,andpersuaded the Jewsand the Greeks.

Andwhen*SilasandTimotheus were comefromMacedonia,Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

And when they opposedthemselves,andblasphemed, he shook his raiment, and saiduntothem,Yourblood be uponyour own heads;I am clean:fromhenceforth I will gounto the Gentiles.

And he departedthence, and enteredinto a certain man's house,namedJustus, one that worshippedGod,whosehouse joined hard* to the synagogue.

AndCrispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue,believed on the Lordwithallhishouse;andmany of the Corinthianshearingbelieved, and were baptized.

Thenspake the Lord to Paulin the nightby a vision,Benotafraid, butspeak, andholdnot thy peace:

ForIamwiththee,and no man shall set onthee to hurtthee:forIhavemuchpeopleinthiscity.

And he continued there a yearandsixmonths,teaching the word of Godamongthem.

And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord againstPaul,andbroughthimto the judgment seat,

Saying*, This fellow persuadethmen to worshipGodcontrary to the law.

And when Paul was now about to open his mouth,Galliosaidunto the Jews,If*itwerea matter of wrongorwickedlewdness,O ye Jews,reason*would that I should bear with you:

Butif it be a questionofwordsandnames,andofyourlaw, look ye* to it; forI will be*nojudge of such matters.

Thenall the GreekstookSosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat.AndGalliocared for none of those things.

AndPaul after this tarried there yet a goodwhile, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thenceintoSyria,andwithhimPriscillaandAquila; having shorn his headinCenchrea:for he had a vow.

And he cametoEphesus,andleft them there:but he himselfentered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

Whentheydesired him to tarrylonger*timewiththem, he consentednot;

Butbadethemfarewell, saying, Imust by all meanskeep this feast that comethinJerusalem:but I will returnagainuntoyou, if Godwill. And he sailedfromEphesus.

And when he had landedatCaesarea, and gone up, andsaluted the church, he went downtoAntioch.

And after he had spentsometime there, he departed, and went over all the country of GalatiaandPhrygia in order,strengtheningall the disciples.

And a certainJewnamedApollos,born at Alexandria, an eloquentman, and mighty*in the scriptures,cametoEphesus.

This manwas instructed in the way of the Lord;and being fervent in the spirit, he spakeandtaughtdiligently the things of the Lord,knowingonly the baptism of John.

Andhebegan to speak boldlyin the synagogue:whomwhenAquilaandPriscilla had heard, they tookhim unto them, andexpounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

And when he was disposed to passintoAchaia, the brethrenwrote, exhorting the disciples to receivehim:who, when he was come, helped themmuch which had believedthroughgrace:

For he mightilyconvinced the Jews, and that publickly,shewingby the scriptures that JesuswasChrist.[a]
