And when the temptercame to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God,commandthatthesestones be madebread.

But he answered and said, It is written, Manshallnotlivebybreadalone,butbyeveryword that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Then the deviltakethhimupinto the holycity,andsettethhimon a pinnacle of the temple,

Andsaith unto him,If thou be the Son of God,castthyselfdown:for it is written*, He shall givehisangelschargeconcerningthee:andin their hands they shall beartheeup, lest at any time thou dashthyfootagainst a stone.

Jesussaid unto him,It is writtenagain, Thou shaltnottempt[a] the LordthyGod.

Again, the deviltakethhimupinto an exceedinghighmountain,andshewethhimall the kingdoms of the world,and the glory of them;

Andsaith unto him,All these things will I givethee,if thou wilt fall down and worshipme.

ThensaithJesus unto him,Get thee hence, Satan:for it is written, Thou shalt worship the LordthyGod,andhimonly shalt thou serve.

Then the devilleavethhim,and,behold, angelscameandministered unto him.

Now when Jesus had heardthatJohn was cast into prison, he departedintoGalilee;

AndleavingNazareth, he came and dweltinCapernaum,which is upon the sea coast,in the borders of ZabulonandNephthalim:

That it might be fulfilledwhich was spokenbyEsaias the prophet,saying,

The land of Zabulon,and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea,beyondJordan,Galilee of the Gentiles;
