Take heed that ye donotyouralms[a]beforemen, to be seen* of them:otherwise ye havenorewardofyourFatherwhich is inheaven.
2
Thereforewhen thou doest thine alms, donot[b] sound a trumpetbeforethee,as the hypocritesdoin the synagoguesandin the streets, that they may have gloryofmen.Verily I say unto you, They havetheirreward.
3
But when thoudoestalms, letnotthy left handknowwhatthy right handdoeth:
4
Thatthinealms may beinsecret:andthyFatherwhichseethinsecrethimself shall rewardtheeopenly*.
5
Andwhen thou prayest, thou shaltnotbeas the hypocrites are: for they love to praystandingin the synagoguesandin the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.Verily I say unto you*, They havetheirreward.
6
Butthou, when thou prayest, enterintothycloset, and when thou hast shutthydoor, pray to thyFatherwhich is insecret;andthyFatherwhichseethinsecret shall rewardtheeopenly*.
7
But when ye pray, usenot vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they thinkthat they shall be heardfortheir much speaking.
8
Benotyethereforelike unto them:foryourFatherknoweth what things ye have need of,beforeyeaskhim.
9
After this mannerthereforeprayye:OurFatherwhich art inheaven, Hallowed bethyname.
10
Thykingdomcome. Thywill be doneinearth, asit is inheaven.
13
Andleadusnotintotemptation,butdeliverusfromevil:Forthineis the kingdom,and the power,and the glory,forever.Amen.
14
Forif ye forgivementheirtrespasses,yourheavenlyFather will alsoforgiveyou:
15
Butif ye forgivenotmentheirtrespasses,neither will yourFatherforgiveyourtrespasses.
16
Moreoverwhen ye fast, benot,as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance:for they disfiguretheirfaces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you*, They havetheirreward.
17
Butthou, when thou fastest, anointthinehead,andwashthyface;
18
That thou appearnot unto men to fast, but unto thyFatherwhich is insecret:andthyFather, whichseethinsecret, shall rewardtheeopenly*.

The light of the bodyis the eye:ifthereforethineeyebesingle, thywholebody shall be full of light.
23
Butifthineeyebeevil, thywholebody shall be full of darkness.Iftherefore the light that isinthee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
24
No mancanservetwomasters:foreither he will hate the one, andlove the other; or else he will hold to the one, anddespise the other. Ye cannot*serveGodandmammon.
25
ThereforeIsay unto you, Take nothought for yourlife, what ye shall eat, orwhat ye shall drink; nor yet foryourbody, what ye shall put on. Isnot the life more thanmeat, and the body than raiment?
26
Behold* the fowls of the air:for they sownot, neither do they reap, norgatherintobarns;yetyourheavenlyFatherfeedeththem.Areyenotmuch better thanthey?
27
Whichofyou by taking thoughtcanaddonecubituntohisstature?
28
Andwhy take ye thoughtforraiment?Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toilnot, neither do they spin:
29
And yet I say unto you,ThatevenSolomoninallhisglorywasnotarrayedlikeone of these.
30
Wherefore,ifGodsoclothe the grass of the field, which to dayis, and to morrow is castinto the oven, shall he notmuchmore clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31
Therefore take nothought, saying, What shall we eat? or,What shall we drink? or,Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32
(For afterall these things do the Gentilesseek:) foryourheavenlyFatherknoweththat ye have need of all these things.
33
But seek yefirst the kingdom of God,andhisrighteousness;andall these things shall be added unto you.
