Exodus 27:5

And thou shalt put it under the compass of the altar beneath,
&c.] That is, the grate was to be put within the square compass of the altar, in the hollow part of it, for the wood and sacrifice to be laid upon it:

that the net may be even to the midst of the altar;
and as the altar was three cubits high, this net or grate was let down by chains to its rings a cubit and a half, and being of such a depth was capable of containing a great deal.

3 Mache auch Aschentöpfe, Schaufeln, Becken, Gabeln, Kohlenpfannen; alle seine Geräte sollst du aus Erz machen.

4 Du sollst auch ein ehernes Gitter machen wie ein Netz und vier eherne Ringe an seine vier Enden.

5 Du sollst's aber von untenauf um den Altar machen, daß das Gitter reiche bis mitten an den Altar.

6 Und sollst auch Stangen machen zu dem Altar von Akazienholz, mit Erz überzogen. {~}

7 Und man soll die Stangen in die Ringe tun, daß die Stangen seien an beiden Seiten des Altars, wenn man ihn trägt.
