Jeremiah 5:25

Your iniquities have turned away these things
Whereas of late years rain was withheld from them in common, and they had not the former and latter rain in its season, nor the appointed weeks of the harvest, and so their land was barren, and famine ensued. This was to be ascribed, not to the want of goodness and faithfulness in God, but to their own iniquities; these mercies were kept back from them in order to humble them, and bring them to a sense of their sins, and an acknowledgment of them: and your sins have withholden good things from you;
as rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, and had also brought many evil things upon them; for more is understood than is expressed.

24 and they have not said in their heart, Let us fear now the Lord our God, who gives us the early and latter rain, according to the season of the fulfillment of the ordinance of harvest, and has preserved for us.

26 For among my people were found ungodly men; and they have set snares to destroy men, and have caught .
27 As a snare which has been set is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore have they grown great, and become rich:
