Psalm 33:10-20

Listen to Psalm 33:10-20
10 The LORD 1nullifies the counsel of the nations; He frustrates the plans of the peoples.
11 The 2counsel of the LORD stands forever, The 3plans of His heart from generation to generation.
12 Blessed is the 4nation whose God is the LORD, The people whom He has 5chosen for His own inheritance.
13 The LORD 6looks from heaven; He 7sees all the sons of men;
14 From 8His dwelling place He looks out On all the inhabitants of the earth,
15 He who 9fashions the hearts of them all, He who 10understands all their works.
16 11The king is not saved by a mighty army; A warrior is not delivered by great strength.
17 A 12horse is a false hope for victory; Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength.
18 Behold, 13the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who 14hope for His lovingkindness,
19 To 15deliver their soul from death And to keep them alive 16in famine.
20 Our soul 17waits for the LORD; He is our 18help and our shield.

Psalm 33:10-20 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 33

Though this psalm has no title to it, it seems to be a psalm of David, from the style and matter of it; and indeed begins with the same words with which the preceding psalm is ended. Theodoret is of opinion it was written by David as a prophecy concerning Hezekiah, as a song to be sung by the people after the destruction of the Assyrian army.
