Last time on Light on the Hill we received a really good working definition of love from the apostle John. After defining love for us, he then describes what God did for us. With that as a backdrop he now tells us we’re to love one another. I think you’d agree that is so needed in a world full of hate and evil.

God’s amazing love bought salvation and all of us are unworthy of that sacrificial love. In this message, Pastor Jeff Schreve explains how regardless of what we’ve done, or who we’ve hurt, God is able by His Spirit and by His power to change our hearts so that we can love as Jesus loved us.

If you go by what the world tells you about love, you’ll be misdirected! For example, we often hear that love is love or love tolerates evil! When nothing could be further from the truth. But if you’ll turn to the Word, you’ll discover what true love is. And as we’ll see today, God is love. And the best way we can express our love to God is by following His commands.

Many people have made an effort to redefine terms that only God can define and the result is catastrophic. When mankind chose to redefine love, he also chose to self-destruct and that is exactly the condition before us today. This is what God says about love and this is what we need to do in order to save society from the destructive effects already in motion.
