33 Los hombres tomaron la respuesta como una buena señal y, aprovechando esas palabras, enseguida le respondieron:
—¡Sí, su hermano Ben-adad!
—¡Vayan a traerlo! —les dijo el rey de Israel.
Cuando Ben-adad llegó, Acab lo invitó a subir a su carro de guerra.

1 Kings 20:33

Now the men did diligently observe whether anything would
come from him
That would be a good omen to them, and encourage them to hope for success; they observed him as diligently by his words and behaviour as soothsayers do when they look out for a lucky sign; for the word is sometimes used of divining ^F19:

and did hastily catch it;
as soon as it was out of his mouth, and laid hold on it to improve it to advantage, being wiser than him:

and they said, thy brother Benhadad;
him whom thou callest thy brother; he is thy brother, and is alive; this they caught, and expressed it, to observe whether it was a slip of his tongue, and whether he spoke it heartily, and would abide by it, or whether he would retract it:

then he said, go ye, bring him;
meaning from the city to the place where he was:

then Benhadad came forth to him;
out of his chamber, upon the report of his servants:

and he caused him to come up into the chariot;
to sit and converse with him there.

31 Los oficiales de Ben-adad le dijeron: «Hemos oído, señor, que los reyes de Israel son compasivos. Entonces pongámonos tela áspera alrededor de la cintura y sogas en la cabeza en señal de humillación, y rindámonos ante el rey de Israel. Tal vez así le perdone la vida».

32 Entonces se pusieron tela áspera y sogas, y fueron a ver al rey de Israel, a quien le suplicaron:
—Su siervo Ben-adad dice: “Le ruego que me perdone la vida”.
El rey de Israel respondió:
—¿Todavía vive? ¡Él es mi hermano!

33 Los hombres tomaron la respuesta como una buena señal y, aprovechando esas palabras, enseguida le respondieron:
—¡Sí, su hermano Ben-adad!
—¡Vayan a traerlo! —les dijo el rey de Israel.
Cuando Ben-adad llegó, Acab lo invitó a subir a su carro de guerra.

34 Ben-adad le dijo:
—Te devolveré las ciudades que mi padre le quitó a tu padre, y puedes establecer lugares de comercio en Damasco, como hizo mi padre en Samaria.
Entonces Acab le dijo:
—Te dejaré en libertad con estas condiciones.
Así que hicieron un nuevo tratado y Ben-adad quedó en libertad.

35 Un profeta condena a Acab
Mientras tanto, el Señor
le ordenó a un miembro del grupo de profetas que le dijera a otro: «¡Golpéame!»; pero el hombre se negó a golpearlo.
