10 Después el rey profanó el altar de Tofet en el valle de Ben-hinom, a fin de que nunca más nadie lo usara para sacrificar a un hijo o una hija en el fuego,
como ofrenda a Moloc.

2 Kings 23:10

And he defiled Topheth
A place so called, as is generally thought, from the beating of drums or timbrels in it, that the shrieks of the infants sacrificed here to Molech might not be heard by their parents, and they repent of delivering them to him, and take them away. So the Indians in India now, at the burning of wives with their deceased husbands, attend them with drums and trumpets; and at such time as the fire is put to the wood, the drums and trumpets make a terrible noise for fear their cries should be heard ^F2; (See Gill on Isaiah 30:33) (See Gill on Jeremiah 7:31) this he defiled by casting any sort of filth or unclean thing into it, in contempt of the idolatry there committed, and to alienate the minds of men from it:

which is the valley of the children of Hinnom;
a valley that belonged to the posterity of a man of this name, near to Jerusalem, see ( Joshua 15:8 ) , hence the Greek word "geenna" for hell, in the New Testament:

that no man might make his son or his daughter pass through the fire to
Molech;
which piece of idolatry used to be committed in this place.

8 Josías trasladó a Jerusalén a todos los sacerdotes que vivían en otras ciudades de Judá. También profanó los santuarios paganos donde habían ofrecido sacrificios, desde Geba hasta Beerseba. Destruyó los santuarios que estaban a la entrada de la puerta de Josué, gobernador de Jerusalén. Esta puerta estaba situada a la izquierda de la puerta principal de la entrada a la ciudad.

9 A los sacerdotes que habían servido en los santuarios paganos no se les permitió
servir en el altar del Señor
, en Jerusalén, pero se les dio permiso para comer pan sin levadura con los otros sacerdotes.

10 Después el rey profanó el altar de Tofet en el valle de Ben-hinom, a fin de que nunca más nadie lo usara para sacrificar a un hijo o una hija en el fuego,
como ofrenda a Moloc.

11 También quitó de la entrada del templo del Señor
las estatuas de caballos que los reyes anteriores de Judá habían dedicado al sol, las cuales estaban cerca de las habitaciones del eunuco Natán-melec, un funcionario de la corte.
El rey también quemó los carros de guerra dedicados al sol.

12 Josías derribó los altares que los reyes de Judá habían construido en la azotea del palacio, sobre la habitación de Acaz en el piso de arriba. El rey destruyó los altares que Manasés había construido en los dos atrios del templo del Señor
. Los hizo añicos
y esparció los pedazos en el valle de Cedrón.
