13 —¿Por qué has venido a verme a mí?
—preguntó Eliseo al rey de Israel—. ¡Busca a los profetas paganos de tu padre y de tu madre!
Pero Joram, rey de Israel, dijo:
—¡No! ¿Acaso no ha sido el Señor
quien nos trajo a los tres reyes aquí para que el rey de Moab nos derrote?

2 Kings 3:13

And Elisha said unto the king of Israel, what have I to do
with thee?
&c.] An idolater; I can hold no discourse nor have any conversation with thee, nor give thee any advice or assistance:

get thee to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy
mother;
the prophets of Baal, and of the groves:

and the king of Israel said unto him, nay;
meaning, he would not apply to them, who he was sensible could give him no relief, only to the Lord God, from whom this affliction was, and therefore begs he would pray to him to have mercy on them; so the Targum,

``I beseech thee remember not the sins of that wickedness, pray for mercy for us:''

for the Lord hath called these three kings together, to deliver them
into the hand of Moab;
signifying, that he should not perish alone, but the other two kings with him, who had no connection with the prophets of his father and mother in their idolatry, and therefore hoped for their sakes mercy would be shown.

11 Pero el rey Josafat de Judá preguntó:
—¿Acaso no hay ningún profeta del Señor
con nosotros? Si es así, podemos preguntarle al Señor
por medio de él qué debemos hacer.
Uno de los oficiales del rey Joram respondió:
—Eliseo, hijo de Safat, está entre nosotros. Él era el ayudante personal de Elías.

12 —Sí, el Señor
habla por medio de él —dijo Josafat.
Así que los reyes de Israel, Judá y Edom fueron a consultar a Eliseo.

14 Eliseo respondió:
—Tan cierto como que el Señor
Todopoderoso vive, a quien sirvo, si no fuera por el respeto que le tengo al rey Josafat de Judá, no perdería el tiempo hablando contigo.

15 Ahora, tráiganme a alguien que sepa tocar el arpa.
Mientras tocaban el arpa, el poder
del Señor
vino sobre Eliseo,
