Ahora bien, Absalón, hijo de David, tenía una hermana muy hermosa llamada Tamar; y Amnón, su medio hermano, se enamoró perdidamente de ella.

2 Samuel 13:1

And it came to pass after this
After the sin of David with Bathsheba, his repentance for it, and pardon of it, and the birth of Solomon as a token of reconciliation; yet after all this the divine threatenings must take place; they had begun already in the death of the child begotten in adultery, and others here follow:

that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name [was]
Tamar;
she was his sister both by father and mother's side; the mother o, f them was Maacah, the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur; she was a very comely person, her name signifies a palm tree:

and Amnon the son of David loved her;
not in an honourable way, to make her his wife, but in a lustful manner, to make an harlot of her; he was David's eldest son by Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, ( 2 Samuel 3:2 ) .

Ahora bien, Absalón, hijo de David, tenía una hermana muy hermosa llamada Tamar; y Amnón, su medio hermano, se enamoró perdidamente de ella.

2 Amnón se obsesionó tanto con Tamar que se enfermó. Ella era virgen, y Amnón pensó que nunca podría poseerla.

3 Pero Amnón tenía un amigo muy astuto, su primo Jonadab, quien era hijo de Simea, hermano de David.

4 Cierto día Jonadab le dijo a Amnón:
—¿Cuál es el problema? ¿Por qué debe el hijo de un rey verse tan abatido día tras día?
Entonces Amnón le dijo:
—Estoy enamorado de Tamar, hermana de mi hermano Absalón.

5 —Bien —dijo Jonadab—, te diré lo que tienes que hacer. Vuelve a la cama y finge que estás enfermo. Cuando tu padre venga a verte, pídele que le permita a Tamar venir y prepararte algo de comer. Dile que te hará sentir mejor si ella prepara los alimentos en tu presencia y te da de comer con sus propias manos.
