2 Samuel 15:21

And Ittai answered the king, and said
With an oath, as follows:

[as] the Lord liveth, and [as] my lord the king liveth;
which he took to confirm what he after says, and to put an end to the debate between them:

surely, in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or
life, even there also will thy servant be;
signifying that he would attend him wherever he went, hazard his life in his cause, and live and die with him.

19 Después el rey se dio vuelta y le dijo a Itai, un líder de los hombres de Gat:
—¿Por qué vienes con nosotros? Vuelve al rey Absalón porque tú eres un huésped en Israel, un extranjero en el exilio.

20 Llegaste hace poco, ¿debería forzarte a vagar con nosotros? Ni siquiera sé a dónde iremos. Regresa y llévate contigo a tus parientes, y que el Señor
te muestre su amor inagotable y su fidelidad.

21 Pero Itai le respondió al rey:
—Juro por el Señor

22 David respondió:
—Está bien, ven con nosotros.
De modo que Itai y todos sus hombres junto con sus familias lo acompañaron.

23 Entonces todo el pueblo lloraba a gritos cuando el rey y sus seguidores pasaban. Así que cruzaron el valle de Cedrón y fueron hacia el desierto.
