2 Samuel 2:28

So Joab blew a trumpet
Or caused one to be blown as a signal of a retreat:

and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more;
as soon as they heard the trumpet sound, the meaning of which they understood, they stepped at once, and left off their pursuit:

neither fought they any more;
that day, and perhaps no pitched battle afterwards; for none we read of, though the war continued after this a long time, and there might be often skirmishes, which greatly weakened Abner's party. See ( 2 Samuel 3:1 ) .

26 Abner le gritó a Joab:
—¿Es inevitable que nos matemos unos a otros? ¿No te das cuenta de que lo único que produce es amargura? ¿Cuándo vas a ordenar que tus hombres dejen de perseguir a sus hermanos israelitas?

27 Entonces dijo Joab:
—Si no hubieras hablado, solo Dios sabe lo que habría pasado, porque los habríamos perseguido toda la noche de ser necesario.

28 De manera que Joab tocó el cuerno de carnero, y sus hombres dejaron de perseguir a las tropas de Israel.

29 Durante toda esa noche Abner y sus hombres retrocedieron por el Jordán.
Cruzaron el río Jordán y viajaron toda la mañana
sin detenerse hasta llegar a Mahanaim.

30 Mientras tanto, Joab y sus hombres también regresaron a casa. Cuando Joab contó sus bajas, descubrió que solo faltaban diecinueve hombres, además de Asael.
