Daniel 2:10-20

10 Los astrólogos respondieron al rey:
—¡No hay nadie en la tierra que pueda decirle al rey lo que soñó! ¡Y ningún rey, por grande y poderoso que sea, jamás pidió tal cosa a sus magos, brujos o astrólogos!

11 Es imposible cumplir con lo que el rey exige. Nadie, excepto los dioses, puede contar al rey su sueño, pero los dioses no habitan entre los hombres.

12 Cuando el rey oyó esto, se enfureció y mandó a ejecutar a todos los sabios de Babilonia.

13 Entonces, debido al decreto del rey, enviaron hombres para que encontraran y mataran a Daniel y a sus amigos.

14 Cuando Arioc, comandante de la guardia real, llegó a matarlos, Daniel manejó la situación con sabiduría y discreción.

15 Le preguntó a Arioc: «¿Por qué emitió el rey un decreto tan severo?». Entonces Arioc le contó todo lo que había sucedido.

16 Daniel fue a ver al rey inmediatamente y le pidió más tiempo para comunicarle el significado del sueño.

17 Entonces Daniel regresó a casa y contó a sus amigos Ananías, Misael y Azarías lo que había ocurrido.

18 Les rogó que pidieran al Dios del cielo que tuviera misericordia y les revelara el secreto, para que no fueran ejecutados junto con los demás sabios de Babilonia.

19 Esa noche el misterio le fue revelado a Daniel en una visión. Entonces alabó al Dios del cielo

20 y dijo:
«Alabado sea el nombre de Dios por siempre y para siempre,
porque a él pertenecen toda la sabiduría y todo el poder.

INTRODUCTION TO DANIAL 2

The subject of this chapter is a dream which Nebuchadnezzar had dreamed, but had forgot; upon which he calls his magicians and astrologers together, to tell him it, and the interpretation of it; threatening them with death if they did not, and promising them great rewards and honour if they did, Da 2:1-6, they urge the unreasonableness of the demand, and the impossibility of the thing; which so highly incensed the king, that he ordered their immediate destruction, Da 2:7-13, Daniel and his companions being in danger, he goes in to the king, and desires time, and he would show him what he had dreamed; which being granted, he spent it in prayer to God, Da 2:14-18, and the thing being revealed to him, he gave thanks to God, Da 2:19-23, and being introduced to the king, he both told him his dream, and the interpretation of it; which concerned the four monarchies of the world, and the everlasting kingdom of the Messiah, Da 2:24-45, upon which he was highly honoured, and greatly promoted by the king, Da 2:46-49.
