Ezekiel 17:1

And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying.
] After the prophet had been sent to charge the Jews with breaking the covenant with God, he is sent to rebuke and threaten them for breaking covenant with men, even with the king of Babylon; by whom they were in part carried into captivity, and another part remained in the land, as will be hereafter seen.

Luego recibí el siguiente mensaje del Señor
:

2 «Hijo de hombre, propón este enigma y cuenta este relato a los israelitas.

3 Diles de parte del Señor
Soberano:
»“Un águila grande con alas anchas y plumas largas,
cubierta de plumaje de varios colores,
llegó al Líbano.
Agarró la copa de un cedro

4 y arrancó la rama más alta.
Se la llevó a una ciudad llena de mercaderes.
La plantó en una ciudad de comerciantes.

5 También tomó de la tierra una planta de semillero
y la sembró en tierra fértil.
La colocó junto a un río ancho,
donde podría crecer como un sauce.
