Ezequiel 15

1 Jerusalén, una vid inútil
Luego recibí este mensaje del Señor
:

2 «Hijo de hombre, ¿cómo se compara una vid con un árbol? ¿Es la madera de una vid tan útil como la de un árbol?

3 ¿Sirve su madera para hacer objetos, como ganchos para colgar ollas y sartenes?

4 No, solo sirve para leña y aun como leña se consume demasiado rápido.

5 ¡Las vides son inútiles antes y después de arrojarlas al fuego!

6 »Esto dice el Señor
Soberano: los habitantes de Jerusalén son como vides que crecen entre los árboles del bosque. Dado que son inútiles, los arrojé al fuego para que se quemen.

7 Si escapan de un fuego, me encargaré de que caigan en otro. Cuando me ponga en su contra, ustedes sabrán que yo soy el Señor

8 Haré que el país quede desolado porque mi pueblo me ha sido infiel. ¡Yo, el Señor
Soberano, he hablado!».

Chapter 15

Jerusalem like an unfruitful vine.

- If a vine be fruitful, it is valuable. But if not fruitful, it is worthless and useless, it is cast into the fire. Thus man is capable of yielding a precious fruit, in living to God; this is the sole end of his existence; and if he fails in this, he is of no use but to be destroyed. What blindness then attaches to those who live in the total neglect of God and of true religion! This similitude is applied to Jerusalem. Let us beware of an unfruitful profession. Let us come to Christ, and seek to abide in him, and to have his words abide in us.

The destruction of Jerusalem is again prophesied of in this chapter, and is set forth under the simile of a vine tree, which, for its uselessness, is committed to the fire. The simile is in Eze 15:1-5; the application of it in Eze 15:6-8.
