17 Hay esperanza para tu futuro —dice el Señor

Jeremiah 31:17

And there is hope in thine end, saith the Lord
Or, "hope for thy posterity" ^F18; for their children that had been massacred, that these should rise again, and enjoy a blessed immortality, as the next clause seems to explain and confirm it: that thy children shall come again to their own border:
either to the border of the land of Israel, as Joseph, Mary, and Jesus did, ( Matthew 2:21 Matthew 2:22 ) ; or rather to the borders of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin, where this cruel murder was committed; and so the intimation is, that they shall rise again, and stand upon that very spot of ground where their blood was split; and not only so, but enter into and dwell upon the new earth in the Jerusalem state; and also enter into the heavenly Canaan, and dwell with Christ for evermore, on whose account their lives were taken away.

15 La tristeza de Raquel se torna en alegría
Esto dice el Señor
:
«En Ramá se oye una voz,
profunda angustia y llanto amargo.
Raquel llora por sus hijos,
se niega a que la consuelen,
porque sus hijos se han ido».

16 Pero ahora esto dice el Señor
:
«No llores más,
porque te recompensaré —dice el Señor
—.
Tus hijos volverán a ti
desde la tierra lejana del enemigo.

17 Hay esperanza para tu futuro —dice el Señor
—.
Tus hijos volverán a su propia tierra.

18 Oí a Israel
decir:
“Me disciplinaste severamente,
como a un becerro que necesita ser entrenado para el yugo.
Hazme volver a ti y restáurame,
porque solo tú eres el Señor
mi Dios.

19 Me aparté de Dios,
pero después tuve remordimiento.
¡Me di golpes por haber sido tan estúpido!
Estaba profundamente avergonzado por todo lo que hice en los días de mi juventud”.
