Jeremías 5:5

5 Así que iré y hablaré a sus líderes.
Sin duda ellos conocen los caminos del Señor
y entienden las leyes de Dios».
Pero los líderes también, como un solo hombre,
se habían librado del yugo de Dios
y roto las cadenas.

Jeremiah 5:5

I will get me unto the great men, and speak unto them
The princes, nobles, and judges, the elders of the people, the scribes and doctors of the law: for they have known the way of the Lord, and the judgment of their God;
it might be reasonably expected that they had, having had a good education, and being at leisure from worldly business to attend to the law, and the knowledge of it, and whatsoever God had revealed in his word, both in a way of doctrine and duty: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds;
the yoke of the law, and the bonds of his precepts, with which they were bound; these they broke off from them, and would not be obliged and restrained by them, but transgressed and rejected them.

3 Señor
, tú estás buscando la honradez.
Golpeaste a tu pueblo,
pero no prestó atención.
Los has aplastado,
pero se negaron a ser corregidos.
Son tercos, de caras duras como piedra;
rehusaron arrepentirse.

4 Entonces dije: «¿Pero qué podemos esperar de los pobres?
Son unos ignorantes.
No conocen los caminos del Señor
ni entienden las leyes divinas.

5 Así que iré y hablaré a sus líderes.

6 Entonces ahora un león de la selva los atacará;
un lobo del desierto se les echará encima.
Un leopardo acechará cerca de sus ciudades,
y hará trizas a quien se atreva a salir.
Pues grande es la rebelión de ellos
y muchos son sus pecados.

7 «¿Cómo puedo perdonarte?
Pues aun tus hijos se han alejado de mí.
¡Ellos juraron por dioses que no son dioses en absoluto!
Alimenté a mi pueblo hasta que estuvo satisfecho;
pero su manera de darme las gracias fue cometer adulterio
y hacer fila en los prostíbulos.
