Marcos 3

1 Jesús sana en el día de descanso
Jesús entró de nuevo en la sinagoga y vio a un hombre que tenía una mano deforme.

2 Como era el día de descanso, los enemigos de Jesús lo vigilaban de cerca. Si sanaba la mano del hombre, tenían pensado acusarlo por trabajar en el día de descanso.

3 Jesús le dijo al hombre con la mano deforme:

4 Luego se dirigió a sus acusadores y les preguntó:
Pero ellos no quisieron contestarle.

5 Jesús miró con enojo a los que lo rodeaban, profundamente entristecido por la dureza de su corazón. Entonces le dijo al hombre:
Así que el hombre la extendió, ¡y la mano quedó restaurada!

6 Los fariseos salieron enseguida y se reunieron con los partidarios de Herodes para tramar cómo matar a Jesús.

7 Multitudes siguen a Jesús
Jesús fue al lago con sus discípulos, y una gran multitud lo siguió. La gente llegaba de toda Galilea, Judea,

8 Jerusalén, Idumea, del oriente del río Jordán y de lugares tan al norte como Tiro y Sidón. Las noticias sobre sus milagros corrían por todas partes, y una enorme cantidad de personas llegó para verlo.

9 Jesús encargó a sus discípulos que prepararan una barca para que la multitud no lo apretujara.

10 Ese día sanó a tanta gente, que todos los enfermos empujaban hacia adelante para poder tocarlo.

11 Y, cuando los que estaban poseídos por espíritus malignos
lo veían, los espíritus los arrojaban al suelo frente a él y gritaban: «¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios!»;

12 pero Jesús ordenó severamente a los espíritus que no revelaran quién era él.

13 Jesús escoge a los doce apóstoles
Tiempo después Jesús subió a un monte y llamó a los que quería que lo acompañaran. Todos ellos se acercaron a él.

14 Luego nombró a doce de ellos y los llamó sus apóstoles.
Ellos lo acompañarían, y él los enviaría a predicar

15 y les daría autoridad para expulsar demonios.

16 Estos son los doce que escogió:
Simón (a quien llamó Pedro),

17 Santiago y Juan (los hijos de Zebedeo, a quienes Jesús apodó «hijos del trueno»
),

18 Andrés,
Felipe,
Bartolomé,
Mateo,
Tomás,
Santiago (hijo de Alfeo),
Tadeo,
Simón (el zelote
),

19 Judas Iscariote (quien después lo traicionó).

20 Jesús y el príncipe de los demonios
Cierta vez, Jesús entró en una casa y las multitudes empezaron a juntarse nuevamente. Pronto ni él ni sus discípulos encontraron un momento para comer.

21 Cuando sus familiares oyeron lo que sucedía, intentaron llevárselo. «Está fuera de sí», decían.

22 Pero los maestros de la ley religiosa que habían llegado de Jerusalén decían: «Está poseído por Satanás,
el príncipe de los demonios. De él recibe el poder para expulsar los demonios».

23 Jesús los llamó para que se acercaran y respondió con una ilustración.
—preguntó—.

24 Un reino dividido por una guerra civil, acabará destruido.

25 De la misma manera una familia dividida por peleas se desintegrará.

26 Si Satanás está dividido y pelea contra sí mismo, ¿cómo podrá mantenerse en pie? Nunca sobreviviría.

27 Permítanme darles otra ilustración. ¿Quién tiene suficiente poder para entrar en la casa de un hombre fuerte como Satanás y saquear sus bienes? Solo alguien aún más fuerte, alguien que pudiera atarlo y después saquear su casa.

28 »Les digo la verdad, cualquier pecado y blasfemia pueden ser perdonados,

29 pero todo el que blasfeme contra el Espíritu Santo jamás será perdonado. Este es un pecado que acarrea consecuencias eternas».

30 Les dijo esto porque ellos decían: «Está poseído por un espíritu maligno».

31 La verdadera familia de Jesús
Luego la madre y los hermanos de Jesús vinieron a verlo. Se quedaron afuera y le mandaron a decir que saliera para hablar con ellos.

32 Había una multitud sentada alrededor de Jesús, y alguien dijo: «Tu madre y tus hermanos
están afuera y te llaman».

33 Jesús respondió:

34 Entonces miró a los que estaban a su alrededor y dijo:

35 Todo el que hace la voluntad de Dios es mi hermano y mi hermana y mi madre».

Marcos 3 Commentary

Chapter 3

The withered hand healed. (1-5) The people resort to Christ. (6-12) The apostles called. (13-21) The blasphemy of the scribes. (22-30) Christ's relatives. (31-35)

Verses 1-5 This man's case was piteous; he had a withered hand, which disabled him from working for his living; and those that are so, are the most proper objects of charity. Let those be helped that cannot help themselves. But stubborn infidels, when they can say nothing against the truth, yet will not yield. We hear what is said amiss, and see what is done amiss; but Christ looks at the root of bitterness in the heart, the blindness and hardness of that, and is grieved. Let hard-hearted sinners tremble to think of the anger with which he will look upon them shortly, when the day of his wrath comes. The great healing day now is the sabbath, and the healing place the house of prayer; but the healing power is of Christ. The gospel command is like that recorded here: though our hands are withered, yet, if we will not stretch them out, it is our own fault that we are not healed. But if we are healed, Christ, his power and grace, must have all the glory.

Verses 6-12 All our sicknesses and calamities spring from the anger of God against our sins. Their removal, or the making them blessings to us, was purchased to us by the blood of Christ. But the plagues and diseases of our souls, of our hearts, are chiefly to be dreaded; and He can heal them also by a word. May more and more press to Christ to be healed of these plagues, and to be delivered from the enemies of their souls.

Verses 13-21 Christ calls whom he will; for his grace is his own. He had called the apostles to separate themselves from the crowd, and they came unto him. He now gave them power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils. May the Lord send forth more and more of those who have been with him, and have learned of him to preach his gospel, to be instruments in his blessed work. Those whose hearts are enlarged in the work of God, can easily bear with what is inconvenient to themselves, and will rather lose a meal than an opportunity of doing good. Those who go on with zeal in the work of God, must expect hinderances, both from the hatred of enemies, and mistaken affections of friends, and need to guard against both.

Verses 22-30 It was plain that the doctrine of Christ had a direct tendency to break the devil's power; and it was as plain, that casting of him out of the bodies of people, confirmed that doctrine; therefore Satan could not support such a design. Christ gave an awful warning against speaking such dangerous words. It is true the gospel promises, because Christ has purchased, forgiveness for the greatest sins and sinners; but by this sin, they would oppose the gifts of the Holy Ghost after Christ's ascension. Such is the enmity of the heart, that unconverted men pretend believers are doing Satan's work, when sinners are brought to repentance and newness of life.

Verses 31-35 It is a great comfort to all true Christians, that they are dearer to Christ than mother, brother, or sister as such, merely as relations in the flesh would have been, even had they been holy. Blessed be God, this great and gracious privilege is ours even now; for though Christ's bodily presence cannot be enjoyed by us, his spiritual presence is not denied us.
